Omar S.png

omar solomon

Omar is king of the comeback. Ten years ago his career as a star athlete ended in injury and scandal.

He may have traded in his cleats for Gucci loafers, but he’s been as victorious in the boardroom as he was on the pitch. And he’s just getting started. He’s not afraid of love, but he’s starting to think it might be afraid of him.

Q&A

1.)How did you feel when you got signed to arsenal?

I thought I was king of the world. It was all I wanted and thought I’d do it forever. A lot of young guys struggled with the fame and wealth that came almost overnight, but my dad helped me keep my feet on the ground and helped me turn my salary into an empire. I know I worked hard for it, but so much of what happened to me was down to timing and luck, too.

2.) How long have you been friends with your oldest friend?

More than half my life. I don’t make friends easily, so when I do, I nurture the relationships.

3.) What’s your favorite thing about living in London?

Not having to drive, having a local pub, being so close to the rest of the world.

4.) What’s your favorite way to relax?

Keeping busy.

5. ) What were you afraid to do, but did it anyway?

Go back to school at the age of 28 when everyone was 18 and looking at me like I was alien.

Q&A

1.) What makes you happy?

Good food, the smell of neroli, laughing with a good friend, look at beautiful art, kissing in the rain.

2.) What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

Start my life over when I moved to London to go to school. I was an orphan with no siblings, no friends and was still grieving the loss of my dad.

3.) Would you give up your dream to give someone you love theirs?

I don’t think someone who loved me would want me to give up a dream. But I’d made sacrifices to see someone I love be able to attain theirs. Life is all give and take. We can’t have everything we want, but I’m good with that. Not everything we want is for us.

4.) What’s an extravagance you’ll always find a way to afford?

A good facial. It’s one of those things you think is a extravagance until you have one and realize it’s something that is so good for you, it becomes a necessity.

5. ) Do you believe in soul mates?

Yes. And I think they stay the same forever. That our souls live many lives and in each one- whether they find each other or not - that souls are connected forever. Through space and time.
